Pre-Experience Hosting Events

Each year, the McIntire Graduate Marketing & Admissions team invites prospective graduate students to visit the historic University of Virginia Grounds in Charlottesville for an opportunity to learn more about the School's pre-experience degree programs and student experience. 

McIntire Inspire and McIntire Ascend are the McIntire School’s premier hosting events, designed to support and guide prospective students at key points in their graduate business exploration. Together, these programs offer a complementary, immersive look into the McIntire experiencefrom sparking early interest to building the momentum needed to thrive.

  • McIntire Inspire empowers individuals preparing to apply in the current admissions cycle with the clarity, confidence, and connection they need to take the first step. Through interactive sessions, community stories, and insight into McIntire’s distinctive curriculum and global career pathways, Inspire ignites purpose and possibility.
  • McIntire Ascend supports students who are further along in their journeyactive applicants, admitted students, and early plannersby offering a deeper lens into McIntire’s learning culture, leadership values, and post-graduate potential. With a focus on creating connection, growth, and intentional decision-making, Ascend prepares participants to rise into their next chapter with purpose.

Whether you’re just beginning to explore your future or ready to step into it, Inspire and Ascend offer pathways into the McIntire community and are designed to meet you where you are and guide you toward where you want to be.

Participants may arrive on Friday afternoon in advance of the Saturday program. An optional dinner with current students will take place on Friday evening.

McIntire Ascend

As its name suggests, McIntire Ascend is about rising higherwhether you're an active applicant, newly admitted student, or a third-year undergraduate exploring early options for graduate study. This program provides an in-depth view of what it means to thrive at McIntire, and where the experience can take you.

  • Engage in leadership conversations and community dialogues that reflect McIntire’s commitment to creating connection and purpose-driven success
  • Explore your potential through sessions that focus on personal growth, academic challenge, and career preparation
  • Connect with faculty and current students to envision your path forward, from application to graduation and beyond
  • Gain actionable insights to help you move forward with intention, whether you're confirming enrollment or shaping future plans

Application Process and Timeline

Please complete the application form along with answering a short essay question and uploading a copy of your resume and unofficial transcript. Applications will be received and reviewed on a rolling basis.

If selected to participate, you will receive an invitation to register for the event with further instructions. Responses need to be returned within one week of notification. 

Candidates who participate in either hosting event will receive an application fee waiver for use with their application for fall 2026 entry and an invitation to interview during the 2025-2026 admissions season. Accommodation and a travel stipend will be provided for participants who do not currently attend UVA and will be traveling to attend.
