George L. Maloomian (McIntire '74)

CEO, Cambridge Properties Inc.

George Maloomian serves as CEO for Cambridge Properties Inc., a commercial real estate development company based in Charlotte, NC. Cambridge Properties is primarily focused on development of grocery-anchored shopping centers, single-tenant build-to-suits, and master-planned and engineered multiuse communities primarily in North Carolina and adjoining states. As Founder and CEO, Maloomian has led the firm in visioning, planning, and completion of exceptional development projects for over 30 years. Cambridge has strong working relationships with Publix, Harris Teeter, Top Golf, Costco, as well as smaller-format retailers and has actively developed residential communities with Pulte, David Weekly, Empire, M/I Homes, and others.

Previously, Maloomian was Vice President of Development and Project Partner with Oxford Development Corporation, a national multifamily development and management company.  Prior to that, Maloomian was Vice President of Independence Holding Corp., a firm established by a parent investment banking company to redevelop, re-position, develop, and liquidate a large portfolio of properties owned by subsidiary real estate investment trusts (REITS).

Maloomian began his career at Arthur Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in their Washington, DC, office. As a senior manager, he focused on developing complex financial management systems for companies in telecommunications, hospitality, and manufacturing industries.

Maloomian has served as board member and Chair of several community and nonprofit organizations. These include University City Partners (a Municipal Service District), Epiphany School of Charlotte (a school for children with Asperger’s), Carmel Country Club, and Mecklenburg County Board of Equalization. Maloomian currently serves as a board member of UNC-Charlotte Belk School of Business Real Estate Institute, and on the advisory board for the White Ruffin Byron Center for Real Estate at UVA. He is a member of ULI and ICSC.

A native of Bethesda, MD, Maloomian earned an MBA from American University (DC) and holds a B.S. in Commerce (Finance) from the University of Virginia.
