Paul Daugherty recently retired as CEO of the Technology Group as well as Chief Technology and Innovation Officer—a role he originated—with Accenture. During his nearly 40-year career there, Daugherty oversaw 400,000 employees, led the acquisition and integration of over 60 companies, and grew revenue from $25 billion to $40 billion. In 2023, he led Accenture’s $3 billion investment in data and AI to help clients rapidly and responsibly advance their use of AI, including generative AI and agentic AI, to achieve greater growth, efficiency, and resilience. 

Daugherty received his B.S.E. in Computer Science from the University of Michigan and serves on their Computer Science and Engineering Advisory Board. A copy of his recent book, Human + Machine: Reimagining Work in the Age of AI, will be provided to each program attendee.

Tom Davenport is the Bodily Centennial Professor of Analytics at the Darden Business School, University of Virginia; President’s Distinguished Professor of Information Technology and Management at Babson College; an MIT lecturer and Fellow of the MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy; and Senior Advisor to Deloitte’s Chief Data and Analytics Officer Program. He pioneered the concept of “competing on analytics” with his best-selling 2006 Harvard Business Review article (and his 2007 book by the same name). 

Davenport earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University and has taught at the Harvard Business School, the University of Chicago, the Tuck School of Business, Boston University, and The University of Texas at Austin. A copy of Davenport's recent book, All in on AI: How Smart Companies Win Big with Artificial Intelligence, will be provided to all attendees.

Zack Kass is an AI Futurist, keynote speaker, consultant, adjunct professor and the former Head of Go To Market for OpenAI. He has spent over 14 years in AI, leading large teams at some of the industry’s most important companies. His mission is to ensure individuals, businesses, and governments are active participants in the AI-powered future by demystifying AI, making it accessible and understandable for everyone, and helping leaders navigate the rapidly evolving environment. 

Kass serves as an Executive-in-Residence at the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce and Chair of Ruder Finn’s AI Advisory Council. He received his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and resides in Santa Barbara, CA. His new book, The Next Renaissance: AI and the Expansion of Human Potential, will be published on May 31.

Montana Showalter is an AI strategist, consultant, and content creator, currently serving as Chief of Staff at the advisory firm of Zack Kass, former Head of Go-To-Market at OpenAI. She works with business leaders and organizations to implement AI strategies, drive adoption, and balance technological innovation with uniquely human strengths.

Showalter graduated from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce in 2024 with a degree in Commerce and concentrations in Management & IT and the German language. While at UVA, she was deeply involved in the McIntire community, serving as a member of the McIntire AI Taskforce, the Raven Society, and the Women’s Business Forum and was a recipient of the Henry R. Odell Distinguished Award in Management.

Her background spans private equity research, communications, linguistics, and technology, giving her a unique ability to translate AI advancements into real-world business impact. Showalter currently lives in San Francisco, CA.

Rob Alexander is CIO for Capital One, the nation’s leading digital bank with more than 100 million customer accounts and 55,000 associates. 

Responsible for all of Capital One’s technology activities, Alexander has led the company’s technology transformation, including the modernization of its tech stack, transition to the public cloud, evolution of the engineering workforce, and the application of machine learning and AI to deliver real-time intelligent customer experiences. He serves on Capital One’s Executive Committee and ensures alignment of the technology initiatives with strategic business priorities.

Before joining Capital One in 1998, Alexander was with Bain & Company, where he led consulting engagements with Fortune 500 clients in a variety of industries.

Alexander is also a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served four years as an officer in Air Force Systems Command. He graduated from Harvard University in 1986 with a degree in Physics. He also received a Masters Degree in International Relations from the University of Southern California in 1989 and an MBA from Harvard in 1992.

Kelly Doney is the Vice President and Chief Information Officer at the University of Virginia, joining UVA in August 2023. Doney brings decades of experience in higher education, technology, and management consulting, serving as Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Villanova University before coming to UVA. 

Prior to her time at Villanova, Doney served as Vice President of Digital Transformation at Ellucian Inc., a provider of software and services to the global higher education market. She previously was Associate Vice President for Enterprise Applications at Georgetown University, and has served in IT management and consulting roles at other organizations, including Deloitte Consulting and Booz Allen Hamilton.

Doney earned her bachelor’s degree in Music and Psychology from Ithaca College, and a master of science degree in Experimental Psychology from Syracuse University. She completed post-masters graduate work at Rice University.

Shamim Mohammad is the Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Technology Officer at CarMax. He leads the strategic use of technology across the company, including digital innovations and product engineering, to deliver products and solutions that drive competitive advantages and is passionate about building organizational agility through the innovative use of technology. 

Mohammad began his career at a technology startup focusing on automating all aspects of small to mid-size retail businesses. He has served in various diverse strategic leadership roles in startup organizations and Fortune 500 companies across the retail, travel, hospitality, finance, and technology industries. Mohammad serves on the board of UNFI (Fortune 150). Mohammad earned his MBA from Northwestern University (Kellogg). He holds a B.S. in Computer Science. He is a registered CPA in Illinois.

Since 1994, Dr. Barbara Wixom’s research has explored how organizations generate business value from data assets. She joined MIT Sloan in June 2013 and leads the MIT CISR Data Research Advisory Board, composed of 100 data and analytics executives from CISR organizations. 

Prior to MIT CISR, Barb was a tenured faculty member at UVA, where she twice earned the UVA All-University Teaching Award (2002, 2010). In 2017, she was awarded the Teradata University Network Hugh J. Watson Award for contributions to the data and analytics academic community. Most recently, she won the 2021 Association for Information Systems AIS Outreach Practice Publication Award for her data monetization research. Barb authored her new book Data Is Everybody’s Business (MIT Press, September 2023) to inspire workers across organizations to engage in data monetization. She actively works to encourage women, young people, and underrepresented populations to learn about data and pursue data-related careers.

Pierce Brookins is a first-year seeking a B.S. in Commerce from the McIntire School. He serves as a TA at McIntire and a researcher at the School of Medicine. Pierce helped organize HooHacks 2025 and was team lead for the winning team at the fall GenAI for the Common Good Concept Competition.

Alex Talreja is a third-year UVA student double-majoring in Commerce and Computer Science. He completed an internship at Google last summer and his team recently won second place at HooHacks 2025.

Nathan Wang is a first-year UVA student earning a B.S. in Computer Science. Nathan has spent two summers as an intern at Kyrus Tech and has participated on wining teams in the CGI Consulting Competition and the McIntire School's GenAI for the Common Good Concept Competition last fall.
